Antoinette K-Doe 2nd Line / by Zack Smith

These images are a few of the many images i shot at Antoinette's 2nd Line Jazz Funeral. It was an amazing day, a true, honest, jubilant send off for one of New Orleans' ambassadors of culture, Antoinette K-Doe. The streets were packed: Skull and Bones, Baby Dolls, Camel Toes, Indian Tribes, Brass Bands, and even Ernie. The widow of N.O. legend Ernie K-doe (Mother-in-Law, Here Come the Girls) - worked tirelessly at keeping Ernie's legacy of music and love for his city alive, as well as keeping the tradition of female walking crews in check and vibrant. She was a founding member of the Baby Dolls, and also worked closely and mentored the Camel Toe Lady Steppers. Her club, The Mother-in-Law Lounge on Claiborne Ave, still stands as a bar, museum, and cultural institute. Visit often, drink plenty, but always remember Antoinette as the ambassador.
